The Winery

Vino Noceto is set amidst the estate’s Sangiovese vineyards, dotted with beautiful old oak trees. The tasting room is in a barn style building and has heavy timber ceilings, rustic wood walls, and a tasting bar set on top of old wine barrels. There are patio tables outside the tasting room, and picnic tables under a towering oak near the vineyards. Those of us who grew up in the Bay Area will quickly recognize the Doggie Diner dog head that adds a little whimsy outside the tasting room.

The Vineyards

The first vines were planted in 1987, and the total acreage is now at 25. True to their signature wine, 24 of those acres are devoted to multiple Sangiovese clones with just 1 acre devoted to Syrah vines.

The Wines

This is Sangiovese country. Recognizing that this warmer region of the Foothills was perfect for this Italian grape varietal, the Gulletts decided to make this their signature grape. In addition to the numerous Sangiovese wines they produce, they also produce a Sangiovese Grappa, Barbera, and a spritzy white wine made from Moscato and Orange Muscat. They also produce an old vine Zin from the 'Original Grandpere Vineyard'. They even make a Grappa from the Original Grandpere Zinfandel grapes.

The Winemaker

The winemaker at Vino Noceto is Rusty Folena. Rusty came to the winery from Renwood Winery, just up the road, and is assisted at Vino Noceto by consulting winemaker Stacey Gregersen.
