The Winery

Stewart and Stephanie Perry purchased their estate in 1989. Originally starting as a sheep ranch, they decided to switch to grapes when it became obvious there was a resurgence of the wine industry in this historic area. The winery sits on top of a ridge with wonderful views of the Sacramento Valley, making this the perfect spot to relax during your hectic day of wine touring. The winery has opened a tasting room at 897 Lincoln Way in downtown Auburn. It is open Tues-Fri 2-7, Sat 11-7 and Sun 12-4.

The Vineyards

After carefully testing and studying the potential of the terroir, Syrah and Barbera were planted at the estate in 2002. The estate also purchases grapes from other California wine regions such as Sonoma for the Merlot and Amador for the Zinfandel.

The Wines

Fawnridge chooses to focus on a small selection of hand crafted wines that are particularly well suited to the foothills. The focus is on Foothill originated grapes, but they do supplement with those from other regions when it is the best choice for the wine type they are making. Fawnridge makes a very nice, lightly oaked Foothill Chardonnay, as well as a wonderfully spicy Barbera with just enough acid to make it a great food wine.

The Winemaker

Stewart and Stephanie Perry were avid wine enthusiasts who discovered a love of making the wine themselves. After years spent enjoying wine, they opened a winery of their own in 2004.
