The Winery

The winery, situated amidst the oak and pine forests of Pleasant Valley, has a beautiful modern European flare to its tasting room. There is a lovely inviting patio area that is just perfect for relaxed conversation while enjoying the beauty of the pine-covered knoll.

The Vineyards

The estate vineyards, located at the 2500-foot elevation, are planted with Petite Sirah, Viognier, Zinfandel, and Roussanne grapes. The winery also purchases a number of different varieties, including Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zinfandel, from other vineyards in El Dorado County.

The Wines

The majority of the wines take on the flavor of the Northern Rhone; however, they have a very nice, well-rounded Cabernet and a California Zin. Their Petite Syrah is particularly big and bold, with wonderful fruit, and is definitely worth a taste.

The Winemaker

Frank Hildebrand, the winemaker and owner of Narrow Gate, is a University of California, Davis, graduate who attended multiple enology extension courses. He and wife Teena are proud members of the California Rhone Rangers.
