The Winery

Fitzpatrick, built in 1980, was the first winery established in the Fair Play area. There is a beautiful mountain lodge attached to the tasting room that offers overnight accommodations and serves food on weekends. The tasting room sells deli cheeses, meats, crackers, soft drinks, beer and condiments every day the winery is open. There is a wonderful selection of Irish gifts and music offered for sale in the tasting room as well. The deck area off the tasting room has one of the most magnificent views of the Sierras and Foothills to be found. There are tables located on the deck to take a few minutes to contemplate the region and the day.

The Vineyards

The estate has 22 acres of vineyards including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Cinsaut, Grenache, Merlot, Sangiovese, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. There are two vineyards, one at the winery site at the 2100’ foot elevation and a separate vineyard at the 2500’ elevation.

The Wines

All Fitzpatrick wines are made from grapes grown organically, and are made under the Organic Grapes into Wine Alliance standards and meet the USDA National Organic Standards. The winery has completed a solar power system to supplement their organic grape standards to create wines in a truly earth friendly manner.

The Winemaker

Brian Fitzpatrick started as first a home beer brewer and then a home winemaker and viticulturist. His passion for the craft drove him to his entry into the professional winemaking arena.
