The Winery

The tasting room of the Charles Spinetta Winery is beautifully done in warm woodsy colors and doubles as an art gallery for many very talented California artists. There is a very picturesque picnic area next to the winery, with plenty of inviting tables to spend time enjoying your purchases with a little food.

The Vineyards

The estate vineyards, established in the 1970s, are located between the 1500 and 1700-foot elevation. The 80 acres of vineyards are planted in Barbera, Zinfandel, Primitivo, Black Muscat, Chenin Blanc, Orange Muscat and Petite Sirah.

The Wines

The winery produced its first wines in 1984, starting with just three varieties, two whites and one red. Today they produce ten different varieties, six of which are very wonderful after dinner wines. The bottles themselves feature beautiful labels making them pieces of art, even after the wine is gone. But come early, many of the best-labeled bottles are only sold in the tasting room and sell out extremely quickly.

The Winemaker

The Spinetta family has been a part of the Foothill agricultural scene for generations. Charles’ grandfather produced wines east of Jackson, in Amador County, during gold rush up until prohibition. The winemaker at the estate is Adam De Lange.
