The Winery
Dobra Zemlja is Croatian for ‘Good Earth’, and that theme certainly holds true with this beautiful site. The winery is located off the main road on extensively landscaped grounds. There is a picnic area under towering trees with views of the nearby pond and vineyards beyond. Tasting is done in the hand-made wine cave found under the historic restored barn that dates to the 1800s.
The Vineyards
The beautiful winery site is surrounded by the estate vineyards. These vineyards currently include Zinfandel, Syrah, Sangiovese and Viognier grapes.
The Wines
The house specializes in big, robust, old style red wines with a fairly high alcohol content. They make a very fun red jug wine, Milan Ruz that works beautifully with a big pasta. If you like bold style reds, this may be the winery for you.
The Winemaker
Milan Matulich, the winemaker at Dobra Zemlja, brings his eastern European heritage to his wine style. He makes wines that are meant to be the heart of every family celebration.
