The Winery
Nua Dair, or ‘New Oak’, was previously known as the Argonaut Winery. The tasting room is located in the barrel room of the winery, with a creative tasting table off to one side. There is a small porch off the front of the winery that offers a lovely view of the oak pastureland that features an inviting gazebo.
The Vineyards
The estate in Amador consists of 20 acres, with 10 planted to vineyards. Mark McMaster also owns 84 acres in the Fair Play region of El Dorado County. Six of the 84 acres are planted in grapes, which he uses to supplement the Amador County estate vineyard. He also purchases grapes from other vineyards located in the Sierra Foothills region.
The Wines
The winery produces several award winning Cal Italia style wines as well as Syrah and Zinfandel. These wines can only be purchased at the winery's tasting room.
The Winemaker
The winemaker at Nua Dair is Mark McMaster. Prior to purchasing the winery, Mark was a Certified Public Accountant for 25 years and an avid home winemaker. Upon discovering his passion for winemaking, Mark took classes as the University of California, Davis, in enology.
