The Winery

The winery is a partnership of three like-minded quality conscious individuals. Scott Klann is the winemaker, and Mark Skenfield is the viticulturist. Hugh Swift joined the group when he was assisting Scott and Mark with their partnership agreement. The first commercial vintage was in 2000, and the downtown Murphys tasting room opened in 2005.

The Vineyards

The winery buys only Calaveras grown fruit, and has their own vineyards in Angels Camp. Their Zinfandel grapes come from the Big John Holleman Vineyard, a vineyard that Mark had helped to develop in his work as a viticulture consultant.

The Wines

These are wines that sell out shortly after their release. When their first wine was released, a Meritage, it was gone very rapidly. The next was a Zinfandel that has shared the same success.

The Winemaker

Scott Klann has worked as winemaker for many of the local wineries, including Chatom and Stevenot. He currently is the winemaker at Twisted Oak as well as Newsome-Harlow.
