The Winery

Jim and Lynda Taylor established their winery in 1996. The artfully designed tasting room started life as a milk house in the 1950s. The entire room is almost a mural of grapevines, and features a modern wood bar. The winery also has wine caves that can hold up to 200 French and/or American Oak barrels. Although there is a tasting room open at the winery, they have recently opened a second tasting room with three other Placer County wineries called The Wine Rack, located in downtown Auburn.

The Vineyards

The first vineyards were planted in 1979, and currently consist of Zinfandel, Syrah and Barbera vines. The winery supplements these with premier grapes purchased primarily from other foothill wineries.

The Wines

The winery specializes in Syrah, Zinfandel and Barbera, and they have graciously dedicated a significant portion of their proceeds to the search for a cure for breast cancer. They not only produce a cancer research Syrah and Chardonnay, but they also produce a Bordeaux Blend where a full 12.5% of the proceeds are given to this deserving charity. In addition to the red wines above, the winery makes a very nice barrel fermented, sur-lie aged Chardonnay, and an unusual white port made from botrytized Sauvignon Blanc.

The Winemaker

The Winery is run by father and son duo of Ryan and Jim Taylor. Ryan is the actual winemaker with father Jim doing all of the thousands of other jobs that running winery requires.
