The Winery
The winery is located on Secret Ravine Creek, directly across from Indian Creek Country Club near the town of Loomis. Owned by Ron and Vicki Morris, this is the site of a historic vineyard which was planted with Zinfandel vines during the Gold Rush. The winery owners love to share the grape growing and wine making process with their customers, and put a great deal of time and effort into the tasting experience.
The Vineyards
The current vineyards were planted in 1998 and have expanded to include Barbera, Viognier, Sangiovese, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Zinfandel. The vineyard employs sustainable agriculture practices, utilizing only very limited artificial fertilizers and insecticides to compliment a natural form of pest management. The winery supplements the estate grapes with grapes from other Loomis Basin growers.
The Wines
Dedication to the true varietal character is the hallmark of Secret Ravine. Their focus on the wines of Southern France and Northern Italy does not stop with the varietals, but also extends to the more traditional style of winemaking by incorporating as little intervention as possible.
The Winemaker
Secret Ravine Winery is not only family run, but was created as a great way for the family to work together. The family patriarch, Ron Morris, is the winemaker at Secret Ravine.
