The Winery

Mario and Linda Clough planted their first vineyard in 1999, and the winery followed in 2002. Wine tasting is offered at both the winery and a tasting room located in downtown Grass Valley next to the theatre. The tasting room is invitingly styled and offers the sale of gourmet food items, gift baskets, and logo clothes as well as wine.

The Vineyards

There are 20 acres of vineyards planted to eight varietals. The focus is on lower yields to improve complexity & concentration of fruit attributes. The estate grown grapes are supplemented with other Sierra Foothill and Lodi grapes, rounding out the winery’s selections.

The Wines

Lucchesi strives to accentuate the regional differences that make the mountain wines of the Sierra Foothills distinguishable from wines from other wine regions. There is also a concentrated effort to practice sustainable, earth friendly agricultural practices.

The Winemaker

The winemaker at Lucchesi is Kristen Vartan. Kristen came to Lucchesi from Frank Family Vineyards in the Napa Valley where she was the assistant Winemaker.
