The Winery

Mount Bullion is located in the rolling foothills along Highway 49 about 9 miles north of Mariposa, near the town of Mt. Bullion. The estate is situated in a picturesque Foothill valley not far from the site of John Fremont’s Las Mariposas Grant.

The Vineyards

The estate has six acres planted to fifteen-year- old Zinfandel vines. They also purchase Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from another Mariposa vineyard.

The Wines

Mount Bullion focuses on three wine varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and an estate grown Zinfandel. The fairly full bodied Zinfandel has lovely flavors of chocolate, raspberry and vanilla in the attack with a finish reminiscence of toasted marshmallows.

The Winemaker

Husband and wife team of Harold and Kris Casto manage the vineyards and winery of Mount Bullion. In addition to managing the vineyards and tasting room, they are the winemakers at the estate.
