The Winery
Iverson sits atop a beautiful knoll on the 32 acre estate surrounded on three sides by vineyards. The tasting room has an inviting veranda on the front, with white wicker chairs to enjoy the view. Near the tasting room is a group of patio tables that offer expansive local and foothill views. Inside, the winery offers gourmet food items and wine gifts for sale.
The Vineyards
Although the winery is surrounded by their estate vineyards, their first estate harvest was not until the fall of 2007. As a result, the winery purchased grapes from local vineyards to make their initial wines.
The Wines
The wines of Iverson are a good representation of the wines of El Dorado County, with bright fruit, good acidity and a hint of earthiness. The Rosé is wonderfully light and crisp on the palate, and the Syrah has that great pepper common to this region of California.
The Winemaker
Rich Gilpin, owner and winemaker at Lavender Ridge in Calaveras County, is the winemaker at Iverson Vineyards. He is a well known consulting winemaker in the region, working with several other local wineries as well.
