The Winery

Bray Vineyards is located on 50 acres of decomposed granite and rocky soils. The tasting room is done in a rustic wood style, with barrels as table bases. The winery was built to exist in concert with the environment, and great care was taken to preserve the beautiful old oaks that dot the property.

The Vineyards

The vineyards are located between the 1100 and 1300 foot-elevations and started with ten acres of Zinfandel. This was later followed by seven acres of Sangiovese, three acres of Barbera and four of Syrah. Cabernet Sauvignon, Verdelho, Primitivo, Petite Sirah and the little seen in California, Alicante Bouschet have since followed with more to come.

The Wines

The wines of Bray Vineyards include several Italian style wines, one of which is a particularly nice Barbera that continues to win awards around the state. They also produce a (rare to California) Portuguese white called Verdelho. Besides their wines, Bray offers lovely estate produced olive oils for sale in the tasting room.

The Winemaker

John Hoddy started his working career as a banker, but soon discovered a passion for home winemaking, which lead him to take classes at the University of California, Davis. He has been the winemaker at Bray Vineyards since 2004.
