Map

The Winery

The estate is located on 70-acres of rolling foothill terrain. There are two large, spring fed ponds that flow directly into nearby Coyote Creek. The beautiful picnic area has great pastoral views of the vineyards and rolling foothill oak woodlands. This historic site was once a Miwok Indian settlement. The whimsical decorating style of the exterior is carried over into the tasting room and gift area, making this a must see stop on your wine adventure.

The Vineyards

The estate has 40 acres of vineyards which include Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Barbera, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. The Pinot Noir is grown on the banks of the creek, which helps to moderate the summer heat. All of the wines are made from estate grown grapes.

The Wines

Indian Rock features wines made in the French tradition. A good example is the Reserve Chardonnay which utilizes whole-cluster pressing, natural yeast fermentation, and sur-lie (on the spent yeast cells) aging in small oak barrels, much in the white Burgundian style. The winery makes a very nice red Bordeaux blend, but don't skip out on the Barbera because it is definitely a grape that loves this area of the foothills.

The Winemaker

Marco Cappelli is the winemaker at Indian Rock. Originally from Swanson vineyards in Napa, his skills are in high demand throughout wine country. The vineyard manager, Stephen Collum is from Kendall Jackson.
